Resident Participation

Contact tenants
We aim to have a tenant in every location to be our 'ears and eyes' helping us to ensure that everything is working well and to provide a voice for their neighbours in the running of the Society.

The role of the contact tenant is varied, including canvassing opinions, acting as point of contact, welcoming new residents and helping them to settle in.

Residents Forum & other events
Our annual Residents Forum helps to keep the Society in touch and responsive to our residents' opinions and needs. It provides an opportunity for residents to voice their opinions on issues such as policies, procedures and practices, best value reviews and other matters.

We seek the widest possible contact with residents by reimbursing travel costs and holding meetings at convenient times. Other events such as barbecues and roadshows are also held to encourage involvement and feedback.

Site Visits
Housing officers visit schemes regularly (usually every six weeks) to see if there are any repairs or issues that need addressing. In this way residents get to know their housing officer and have a chance to express their views directly to a representative of the Society who can take any necessary and appropriate action.

Representation
The Society has places on its board of management and committees for residents representatives. They have full voting rights.

Publications
The Society has a twice yearly newsletter, called Interlink, that is distributed to all residents.
Please click here to view the latest edition. The Tenant's Handbook is available here. The annual report is also sent to all residents. Further copies are available from the Society headquarters. Please contact us by email or telephone to receive the latest copy.

Satisfaction survey
Every two years the Society conducts a resident satisfaction survey and uses the results to improve services.

Residents Associations
We support the creation and running of residents associations in larger housing schemes. These associations can represent more than one area. The Society provides £100 a year to each association to help with its running costs.
